Washington...The risks have never been higher for private and public sector institutions. On-line commentaries have increased 28% in 2007 and the number of malicious rumors, misinformation and distortions have grown 21.2%, creating significant reputational pollution issues. From a counseling perspective (as well as from an internal communications perspective), maintaining your reputational fitness has evolved into a daily workout.

The ICCO Management Board meeting in Milan is over. ICCO (http://www.iccopr.com/) has last week released a world report of the PR consultancy industry in 2007. The year 2007 has been the best year for PR until now. New media and changing social environment is one of the main factors why communication discipline is gaining importance. The rising area of work will be occupying PR and communication consultants, the budgets for the new media will be growing.

The 6th International conference on communication practice with the title “New media in PR and communication” is this year also the ICCO regional summit for Southeast Europe. The conference annually attracts 150 participants from the SE European region and other parts of Europe. We can expect dynamic discussion with some of the top experts from Bebo, PRCA, Hillary Clinton Campaign, Pembridge Asia, ICCO, Prhub India and many others. The conference will convene communication and marketing professionals, business leaders, journalists, bloggers to discuss challenges facing new communication generation and aims to have a significant role in the development of the European industry.

6th Conference on Communication Practice will be held in Ljubljana, the presiding town of the EU Council …However we will not forget our traditional gathering in Portorož. Keep in touch for the upcoming program!

Highly inspiring and informative Conference on Communication Practise in Portoroz 07

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Germany's most famous poet and dramatist was travelling widely and consistently. Travelling ment gaining experience to him and it probably helped him to be an active learner.

I am very pleased about myself to have travelled to Portoroz to join and learn more about The International Conference on Communication Practice 2007. Thanks to my friends from the SPEM Group I enjoyed two wonderful days in this beautiful country of Slovenia and its lovely surroundings of Portoroz.

The International Conference on Communication Practise in Portoroz 2007 was a great success. All presentations and speeches were highly inspiring and informative. I met with very special and interesting people and I learned a lot from these two days.

The cultural and social part was perfectly organised and managed by all the helping hands of the organising teams. The boat trip and diner along the coast in particular was gorgeous.

This was truly a great experience of great professional business value, and a social highlight.

From Paris to Domžale

My dear friends from Paris, New York, Pristina, Beograd, Travnik, Frankfurt, Bruxelles, Baghdad, London, … and Domžale. I would like to thank you for all the beautiful photos (available at http://www.mediaspeed.si/skupina.asp?id=1&skupina=1313), and for all the new ideas (SPEM and attorney Nina Zidar Klemenčič recently established a new consultancy agency Intermedius, take a look at the video of Intermedius manager Tine Kračun at http://www.spem.si/dokumenti/dokument.asp?id=271).

The date for the next year's conference is already set. It will take place on May 15th and 16th 2008. As an addition to our conference page we will establish a Public Relations Hall of Fame. I would also like to congratulate Marjan and Nika for the first PR marriage after the Portorož Conference and wish them a happy honey moon in Greece.

Thanks to Benedetto Cotrugli Raugeo, who in the year 1458 wrote a perfect book Della Mecatvra Et De Mercante Perfetto. A reader can easily see that the human nature and the philosophy of communications do not change. Even in 600 years…
